Hey you guys. It's me, I'm alive.
Probably way too late for me to update all the goings-on or whatever. Maybe I'll just blog a little bit about the camp.
Well, on the first day we went to Sentosa =) The guy at the entrance looked absolutely amused by the whole group of us girls buying tickets separately and entering. What, we like wasting money cannot ah. Haha he was quite nice actually. Asked us if it was a class gathering. I said it was CCA/netball. He looked like he couldn't figure out why people would want to spend $3 to enter Sentosa all the time. You could so see it in his eyes. Also, the lady at the ticket booth kept giggling to her partner when I got the tickets from her. Like she thought it was so cute us kids kept going back to Sentosa for our gatherings or whatever.
THEY KILLED THE MONORAIL =(
(I was very embarrassed when I kept squealing "CAN WE GO RIDE THE MONORAIL PLEASE?" and then Nafisah gave me a Look and said that it was gone for ages already)
Took group photos with the huge alphabets of SILOSO BEACH at, well, Siloso Beach. People like Elia completely disregarded potential limb-breaking and scrambled to the top of the O, etc.
Erm. We took some time to get all the groups sorted out. Say hi to YELLOW where I was with Anna, Izzah, Elia, Effa, Thivea (die, cannot spell her name -.-), Anuja, Cheryl and Sarah (I KEEP MIXING THEM UP! Not that I don't know who is who. But! But! Their names collide on my tongue!). Yu Hui didn't make it on the first day. Were then distributed ribbons of our group colour and YELLOW proceeded to tie em around the ankle and around the head like a headband. Quite xie men leh, both Elia AND Yu Hui were in my group at last year's team too.
After an extremely long time when everyone went to the toilet, we started THE AMAZING RACE. Bloody hell, we were royally tortured in that one man. Beginning we had to deal with some Cannonball thing, then answer questions, where we met this nice malay lady, who, albeit looked rather confused when giving us directions, nevertheless pointed out that we were looking at the wrong location (THANK GOD SHE TOLD US, OR WE WOULD HAVE SCREWED MAJORLY!) and pointed out the correct way. We then began our way to the Ruined City, or whatever, which was like 10km away, believe me -.- The path we embarked on was parallel to the sea, but the scenery wasn't THAT great, and the water stank. Ergh.
Halfway when we turned back to look, we spotted this other group some distance away from us, so we panicked and all ran like crazy, till we reached where Ellysa and Aqidah were waiting for us. This task was to lob a paper ball at an empty plastic bottle set in a hole in a rock. Elia did this, obviously, because she was the shooter, and after a few tries we got it =D
Next we made our way to the Orchid Gardens, or something. I never knew there was an orchidy park in Sentosa. TAR let us get our money's worth, haha. Well, we had some trouble finding our way there, and then when we got there Jody and Angelyn were hiding all the way at the back, so we wasted some time looking for them. Our question was "find the scientific name for the largest orchid in the world".
Hur.
That simple, innocent-looking question cost us our chances of winning, can. We simply could NOT find it. We asked Jody and Angelyn, and they were like, it's on the nametag of the orchid, and we're like, I CAN'T FIND NO BLOODY TAG WITH THAT LABEL! None of the groups could, in fact. We pestered the head gardener there like thrice before we got too ashamed to go back and question him. Until suddenly, Pink came in and found the answer in less than 10 minutes. So obviously it caused an uproar among the rest of the teams, and everybody tore through the place looking at those white cards bearing the names of the orchids for like the 99th time. Then Aqidah told us over the phone that it had 15 letters and was 2 words secretly, but we STILL didn't glimpse any orchid name remotely like that. Bah.
AND THEN! Blue found the answer too T_T Yellow got pretty depressed, UNTIL I PASSED BY THIS TINY NON-FLOWERING PLANT. So much for the biggest orchid or whatever. (Aqidah explained the next day that the sign had been there when the girls had gone to Sentosa to plan out the race, but apparently the sign was gone that day or at the wrong place to begin with) It was right smack in the middle of the garden, and we must have passed it a dozen times making our way from the entrance to the back. @#$%! Its name matched Aqidah's requirements perfectly, so I ran all over to Jody and Angelyn to tell them the name, but heck it was so long I forgot it -.- So I had to go all the way back inconspicuously, pretending I was still looking, to sneak another peek at the name, but of course Green realised too and looked in the area I'd looked in. So we ended up leaving at the same time.
Next we went to the Musical Fountain, and there, we were royally stumped by the place we were supposed to go to. Some giant compass thingy. We must have wandered all over looking until we found it. The sequence of events is rather hazy for this period, probably because my brain was too tired to function properly and note down events. We finally DID find it, though, and there, we were made to kidnap passers-by and force them to listen to us sing 2 lines from each of the 5 songs we would pick from a list of artistes. GREEN IS EVIL! They stole our potential passers-by. Haha. In the end we simply sang to each other. Since YELLOW got there first, we got to sing to Green, and after we listened to them sing, we cheated and ran away with our clue quickly ^^ However, Green unexpectedly chased after us without even looking at their clue, intending to simply "follow them!" ...... Ji dan.
So the 2 teams ended up racing for the Carlsberg Tower, and I almost died on the way ok. The word
tower should give you some clue as to how much energy was needed to get there. We were running past one another up one escalator after another. EXHAUSTING. YELLOW still reached Syafiqah and the rest there first =) We acted out a lame "Drink, don't drive" advertisment and was henceforth given another destination that we figured out to be the Merlion. More running, this time down the escalators/stairs, until we got to the food task.
I HATE TOMATOES.I don't care what you say, that they're juicy and sweet and plump and whatever, THEY SUCK. We were given 2 cans of Coke and 4 GIANT tomatoes. So of course everyone was there stuffing their face, trying to be the first group to finish, so the Coke went down horribly wrong with the extremely raw taste of the tomatoes. In fact, we were just sitting there CRAMMING tomato halves into our mouths and chomping our jaws down as quickly as possible, trying not to taste the fugly fruit/vegetable (for me, anyway). It was gross, gross, gross.
Well, after that our task was simply, as usual, to make our way back to the starting point. I almost died the second time when I heard that, to tell the truth. It'd been an unbelievably long journey up till that point, and we'd made it so far alive, and now they tell us we need to go back. *dies* We were too tired to pore over the map and figure out a shortcut home, or something, so everyone basically decided to backtrack. Oh, that stupid winding path along the smelly river again. On the way back, my burps were coke-and-tomato burps. Double gross. Never ever try that lethal combination. You have to believe me!
OH GOD, THE END POINT FINALLY. Embraced that wooden platform and the end of the game thankfully. We were third *shrug* At least not last. Heh heh.
Pink managed to make their way to Palawan Beach, a whole other beach altogether as we all know. So they simply took the Red Line back. Poor them. Had to have lunch late too, some more. Haha.
After TAR, everyone just slacked on the beach. Erm, Angelyn, Jin Ning, Anuja and Hannah hit Jin Ning's beach ball around. I realise I'm an embarrassment to volleyball. So I stopped pretending I was playing volleyball. The wind was SO not sporting. After a while, I ran out of water and everyone around me ran out of water too, so there wasn't anyone to steal from. I was reluctant to dehydrate, nor spend an atrocious $1.50 for a 600ML bottle of water, so I convinced Jin Ning and Angelyn to take the bus back to the Musical Fountains with me, back to that very nice, very welcoming lone water cooler I saw =D Jody found out and piled us with water bottles, so we lugged em all in a red plastic bag.
We monopolized the water cooler for some time when we got there, but we totally let this Caucasian guy fill his bottle up ok.
It was such a long wait for the bus back, and when we finally got back to the beach, the rest had started the Hantam Bola competition already. Best thing about being a senior? You can simply sit, watch, and cheer =D No getting whacked in the head/arms/
boobschest/pelvis/crotch/thigh accidentally anymore. Though I like Hantam Bola very much, the last time I played it I ended up with a pus-spitting volcano for a left knee. YELLOW was the overall champion, thank you very much =DD
Oh yes, I would like to mention that Ziqin, though she looks wholly innocent, is a sand-dripping fetish who likes to spill sand over other people's limbs for no rhyme or reason. Or slippers. But she looks so adorable doing that!
Then the juniors played Princess and the Knights. The princess has to be kept as dry as possible, and the rest of the team are knights which either go around bombing other princesses or must prevent their princess from being drenched. HOHOHO we don't have to play. *screams in joy* Last year the seniors had us collect our water bombs by making us squat and waddle over to the pile of water bombs and pick them up with our teeth. @#$%*. There were BUGS on the blades of grass, can. Shudder. Anyway, this year us seniors are nice =)) we gave it to them simply, no strings attached.
Thivea was our princess seeing as how tiny she is, and Elia was made the sole knight because our strategy was to let the others do the drenching job for us. The rest had to "wall" themselves all around Thivea. All I can say is, thank God I didn't have to play, because there were
loony girls like Lynette who seemed to have lost her mind some point of time in the game, and had come over grinning maniacally to dribble sand into her teammates' hair.
Despite YELLOW's best efforts, Thivea ended up completely drenched. Oops. The poor but brave knights, they had sand in their hair and dirty seawater in their underwear.
I WAS DESPERATELY TRYING TO GET HOME EARLY. But it took like a complete hour to get from Siloso Beach to the entrance of Sentosa. The bloody Blue Line just didn't want to come. Instead, we saw tons of empty Green Line buses. Will Sentosa just change them to Blue Line ones already! Seeing as how the Blue Line is one of the lines which lead to the entrance of Sentosa, they are bound to be packed with people, especially at 7pm in the evening when everyone wants to get home for dinner after a day at the beach, or whatever.
We missed the first bus out of Sentosa while in the queue, but we managed to board the second one and get seats =D SO, SO, SO gratifying to turn around and gloat at the 678 people behind me in line.
Gee, it's 12.39am now. I think I shall continue Day 2 at a decent hour. I AM SO BEHIND IN BLOGGING! I must must must catch up.
