Okay, I am behind in posting everything. I made promises which I am unable to keep (for now at least. But I really really want to blog about the lit trip one! It's just that... NINE DAYS!!!). Whatever. Let me just say really random stuff like, for example, the weather nowadays is fantastic. My hair is in super good shape I have no frigging idea why. It doesn't really frizz anymore, it feels soft and smooth and sleek, it is the best hair ever. Unlike that time during As when it was shitty and frizzy and kept curling at the ends and drove me crazy whenever I went out. Urgh. I partly suspect my hair is so
fantastic now because Yu Ling is a fabulous hairdresser and the way she cuts just makes my hair stay in place. I am going to continue to patronize her until she retires in another 30 years' time. I love my hair. La la la. I can't stop touching it in joy. You have no idea of my joy okay! That time when I was still prepping for As, my hair REALLY felt like shit. Everytime I looked into the mirror I HAD to fuss with it somehow and deplore its lamentable condition and feel a bit depressed that it sucked so bad. IT WAS SO SAD!!! But now miracles have happened. THANK YOU, GOD, FOR GIVING ME GOOD HAIR THIS MONTH! Let it continue for the rest of next year, please.
Also, I just spent my weekend wallowing in boredom. I finished packing my geog and lit notes, to be
given away sold for a small price to my juniors, who will love me when they find the notes because I swear they are fucking useful. Not that this means I am going to score A for lit and geog, obviously. But I still think they'll HELP them in their quest to conquer the As. The rest of my notes... well Econs will be going to my cousin because he says he's sorta flunking. Woohoo, join the rest of the 56% of the JC population :) Apparently our lecture notes suck so I'm not going to give them to him, but all the rest of the material like essay notes and stuff are still really good, so I'll dump it on him. Also my GP stuff. A LOT of RJ essays haha. It's the least I can do after having him supply me with years of illegally downloaded mp3s, transferred into my mp3 player everytime I go to his house for new year.
Oh yes, perhaps a word or two about prom. SDD 08 was so blah. I asked most of the Andersonians about their proms (not just the VJ ones) and they agreed their proms were quite blah too. I think it's simply because our 06 one at Grand Hyatt was so memorable and fun that it raised the bar quite a bit. I mean, in 06 it was a buffet with superb food and dessert (BUFFET!), we had a dance floor, I really personally knew the pageant finalists (3 from my class - oh yes Nicky and Dev and Caro! Hahhaa), we had a dance floor (did I already say that?), I knew most of the Sec 4s, I loved most of the Sec 4s I knew, the toilet was so near to the bathroom and the lighting SO GOOD we took so many nice photos inside, after that Jia Nicky Dev and I cabbed to his house for a stayover and Resident Evil, and and and
Well you get the idea. Prom this year at Swissotel... well. Oh a =x face instantly popped into my head I swear hahaha I'm just going to write this down. So boring. Food was blah (RJ paid same amount as us at the same location but they got more expensive food! I think SC cheat our money) although I had a lot of fun watching Cassandra "eat" her dinner. Hahaha. The activities of the night were kinda blah too. Some great performances (I am totally in love with October Sky, just as much as I was during MusicFest), some not so commendable (-.-) but all trying very hard to give us a good time. Pageant finalists gave a good showing! My whole table was so amused by Nick's ballroom dancing. :) Isabelle's dress was da bomb. I think I voted for her purely because of that dress. Kuan Ren looked frigging gorgeous I have no idea how she managed to find such a suitable outfit. All of the girls look hot though, which goes without saying. Oh yes, I finally found out where Melodie got her unusual dress! It had this intriguing tie-dye purple and red print. I saw it in Bugis BHG last week. It looked boring on the mannequin but so right on her!
Oh yes, we sat right in front of the stage. Like literally first table in front of the stage. Best places in the room already. No competition. And STILL I couldn't get engaged completely -.- I didn't even take many photos because I couldn't find the camera charger at home (seriously. I found it the day after I got home and asked my mom though. She kept it away. Well done) and went to prom with only 2 bars of batt left, so worried of having it conk out before post-prom I tried to prolong its battery life by taking less photos. Plus, we all looked weird in the photos despite the Canon Digital Ixus 860 IS being the God of Cameras, our faces slightly blurred because of the dim lighting and my refusal to use flash because I hate flash. Eventually gave up and used flash la, of course. Anyway point is I went back home loaded the photos and they looked damn good on my computer. What the hell. Should have taken more photos. I mean, it IS prom after all. But I'd just like to say that despite the fact that Swissotel is posh, the ballrooms we were in are so not -.- So middle-class wedding dinner and unamazing bathrooms. The bathrooms on the 69th floor, however, which I visited when I went to Equinox, are a WHOLE different story. I think the bathroom is essentially thr size of a 3 room flat. It has 3 different sections, and upon entering you encounter the dressing room section for people to apply makeup in front of large mirrors etc, and the area was HUGE, and then I walked on wondering where the toilets were and encountered the SINK area, which was again HUGE, and I walked on thinking if I was going in the wrong direction, when FINALLY upon entering the third section I saw these HUGE cubicles with HUGE doors with toilets in them. Phew. In comparison, the toilets near the wedding dinner ballrooms are shit. Puny. Low-class. Hahaha.
Lucky I didn't spend money on my dress and shoes! *falls to ground and is amazed at own genius* Because the whole affair wouldn't be worth my blowing another 100 bucks on outfit. Nowhere to go and show off lah. Just not in my element. So sad. Anyway, post-prom was blah as well. Bloody O-bar was so bloody small and bloody so many people turned up for post-prom -.- Also, Enid got bloody bounced out for being born 15 days later than 2 Dec and not being legally 18.
ARGH!!!! I know TJ's post-prom at DXO allowed all the J2s in! Where got people have JC post-prom then turn away the J2 December babies one -.- Organisers never tell us in the first place! Enid bought ticket already know!!! Neh neh!
So yes starting mood a bit dashed already (Enid cabbed home alone eventually.), then when Jess and I entered at about 1.30am we were like ZOMG AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE. I thought the music was very bad -.- so I couldn't actually get into the mood to dance. Also, there was no Jia to accompany me and be outrageous... :(:(:( Chia chia! You are in China, I miss you very much... Luckily Kavin was there to help us look after our clutches and stuff, or else, thanks to the insane state of packed-ness of that place, we confirmed wouldn't be able to find a place to dump our stuff and go dance at all. Thanks Kavin!!!
And you know what was the worst? TEHY THREW US OUT AT 3AM! %^@^#@! -.- Where got post-prom party end so early one? Jess, Mel and I were only in there for 1 1/2 hours! After that we lingered outside for some time wondering what to do. Eventually, I took up Kavin's offer of overnight mahjong at his house (because Hian Huat had arrived, mistakenly thinking the bar was gonna be open long enough for him to enter, and now he was stranded without anything to do) along with Jess and Mel (who almost didn't know HH and Kavin at all) - brave girls right! - and cabbed to his house in Philips Avenue. Kavin's house is rich people's house lor, which is one of the reasons why I went as well XD I mean, we played mahjong in a carpeted karaoke room leh. His kitchen is black and white with electric gas stoves which consist of a sleek gleaming black surface with thin white circles outlining the shape of the stove. I proceeded to lose all the mahjong games we played from about 4 to 6.15? I tell you I always lose when I play money. When I don't I really got win one you know!!! Sigh. Lost $2 to the big winners of the night, Kavin and HH.
Anyway, in between Hian Huat got hungry and evryone got hungry and they all went to cook instant noodles! Kavin just literally opened a cupboard door and mee fell out from the sky. Haha. His family stocks up on rations. The rest ate a lot of mee except for me, I drank my Nescafe coffee (which came in the Vegas goodie bag. Really nice leh the coffee). Eventually we left at about 6.30 so the girls could cab without encountering the peak hour surcharge, and stood flailing taxis in different directions (Jess and Mel both live in the East, so I'm headed in opposite direction from them), but not before asking this bemused Indian man to help us take a photo with Kavin's camera, standing at the traffic light :D Funny. So yes lah, I finally got my taxi, reached home at 7am and died. I woke up at noon leh wth. Jess said she slept at 8 woke at 4. Kavin slept at 7 woke at 4. Why I only sleep 5 hours?
Anyway, I was crippled with backache and headaches for the rest of the day -.- I can't stay up overnight already man, I'm getting old... Ooh father is bacj with lunch. Off now!
